Rosa Smith, MN, PMHNP, APRN-BC, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in mental health. She is the founder of Sunshine Psychiatry in Fort Myers, Florida.  

Born in South America, Rosa lived in Piura, Peru, before immigrating to the United States in 1990. She is fluent in both Spanish and English and has broad experience using various treatment modalities. Rosa believes offering individualized care based on the client’s needs, concerns, and preferences is important. This includes an interactive, practical, solution-focused approach to help clients resolve current challenges such as depression and anxiety.  

Rose founded Sunshine Psychiatry after witnessing the great disparity in psychiatric care. In her clinical experience, most practices valued quantity over quality. Patients were often in and out of visits with their providers within 15 minutes – barely any time to adequately communicate the experience of their treatment plan and see if there was room for improvement.
