What is “telepsychiatry”? Similar to telemedicine, telepsychiatry is remote access to your mental health provider that allows you to talk to this person and received help. Especially when you are unable to leave your home.

The Coronoviarus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act was signed into law to help healthcare providers continue to meet the needs of their patients while adhering to the “social distancing” restrictions. This Act has also allowed Medicare and most commercial behavioral health insurance companies to waive their patient out of pocket expenses to ensure continuation of care. This is a big deal. So, what does it mean to you?

If you are already a patient with Sunshine Psychiatry, someone from the office will contact you to conduct your scheduled appointment by telepsychiatry. If you do not have a scheduled appointment and need to talk to our staff, give us a call. If you are new to Sunshine Psychiatry and need to speak to someone; please give us a call. We are here for you. OK, how do we do this?

To complete a telepsychiatry appointment, you need access to a computer, a cell phone, or any telephone to complete a call. The appointment will be conducted by a Zoom call, Kareo Telemed call, or another form of face-to-face networking software. Do not worry, it is a secure connection and the previous requirements have been waived requiring you to be in a specified location; meaning you can complete the appointment from the comfort of your own home. No special equipment is required.

You are NOT alone; we are here. Let us help you get through these trying times.
